It’s a mighty long way to Proxima b
Proxima b orbits the star Proxima Centauri, a red dwarf star. Astronomer Robert Innes (1861-1933) discovered Proxima Centauri in 1915. Proxima Centauri in turn orbits around a pair of stars, Alpha Centauri A and Alpha Centauri B. Proxima Centauri is the closest star to the sun, 4.25 light-years away. Therefore, Proxima b will most likely remain the closest exoplanet to Earth for a very long time. Guillem Anglada-Escude and his associates discovered Proxima b in 2016. They used the Doppler spectroscopy technique, also known as the “wobble method.” Proxima b has a big enough gravitational tug on its parent star to affect the light that comes from Proxima Centauri.
What do people want to know about Proxima b?
I could say more about Proxima b, but I’m interested in what my fellow humans would like to know about Proxima b. The top question asked is “Can we live there?” As far as I can tell, the answer is “No.” Yes, Proxima b is within the so-called “habitable zone” of Proxima Centauri. The temperature is such that liquid water could exist on the surface. But the habitable zone doesn’t take other factors into account.
Bring lead spacesuits and plenty of sunscreen
Strong irradiation by ultraviolet radiation and X-rays from Proxima Centauri could be a problem. Proxima b receives about 10–60 times as much of this radiation especially X-rays, as Earth. What do we call the solar wind of Proxima Centauri? The Proximal wind? Stellar winds and coronal mass ejections are an even bigger threat to an atmosphere. The amount of stellar wind impacting Proxima Centauri b may amount to 4–80 times that impacting Earth. Proxima b may not have an atmosphere at all. But if we go there, we may need lead spacesuits and plenty of sunscreen. Or is it Proxima-Centauriscreen?
Hey buddy, how far is it to Proxima b?
I have mentioned that Proxima b is 4.25 light-years away. A light-year is 5.88 trillion miles. Therefore the distance to Proxima b is roughly 25 trillion miles. The fastest spacecraft so far is the Parker Solar Probe, which travels at 101 miles per second. If a spacecraft took off for Proxima b at 101 miles per second, it would take 247 billion seconds or so. There are 31,536,000 seconds in a year, which means it would take 7,844 years to get there.
Maybe there are other things we should work on
I feel the aspirations of people who hunger to travel to the stars. Some people long to be discoverers. Maybe we’re the ones being discovered. The New Message from God teaches what is currently a minority viewpoint on the subject of extraterrestrials.
Maybe there are other things we should work on. We have soils, waters and skies to cleanse. Perhaps we need to be more restorative of nature. We might need to cool the planet. How about working on building a united, sustainable and discreet human civilization?
Panel Discussion, Making Contact Convergence Conference, August 2021
Marshall Vian Summers, the Messenger of the New Message from God, is relatively discreet regarding making public appearances. But the Making Contact Convergence Conference invited him to present in August of 2021. He gave two presentations and participated in a panel discussion. The two presentations are available at the New Message Community Site (free registration required)
I am familiar with Lue Elizondo and Ralph Blumenthal. Danny Sheehan is one of the conference co-organizers. Richard Dolan has written a number of books on UFOs and the history of government response. Adam Curry is an inventor and tech entrepreneur exploring the horizons of “consciousness technology.”
Seven watchers from seven worlds
The participants in this panel have a great deal of experience to bring to the subject of UFOs. I considered them, with the exception of Marshall, as a pack of bloodhounds following the trail of UFO evidence and its suppression by the US government. But Marshall was given a chance to tell his story. He answered questions from the other panel members.

“Okay, first of all, I’d just like to say that what’s going with information not leaking out into to the public is really not my domain, I don’t want to presume to know what the government holds or doesn’t hold. I’m sure it holds a great deal after 50 or 60 years of secrecy but I don’t claim to have any intuition or insight into how much they do know or don’t know. They’re kind of condemned either way because if they don’t know, then they look pretty stupid and if they do know, who can hear it?
But what’s happened for me is, I was encouraged to receive a communique, and I wasn’t really wanting to do it. My work is in, really, the spiritual, religious realm. I didn’t really want to get into this business, partly because my wife’s brother was involved in it earlier and it really had a damaging, I think a damaging impact upon his well being, and he saw things that just didn’t fit his reality. He was an assistant to George Van Tassel at Giant Rock, he was his assistant, and what had happened there. He was there, full time. And so, he just finally had to leave. He was kind of given a choice: You’re either going to go deeper into this, in which case you will not have a public identity, you will not have a normal life, you will have no access to just about anybody. Or, you should probably bow out because you’re hitting a threshold where you’re gonna have to make a choice. And there was an apparent offer for him to go in that other direction.
So, I’ve been reluctant because I’ve seen this is a very messy and confabulated and repressed arena of information. But nonetheless, I was asked to receive this by a spiritual force that said we want you to receive these beings. And they actually did give me a small message, actually on my honeymoon, which I didn’t appreciate, in 1983. Just said, “Hear us, hear us, hear us, we have a message.” But they didn’t come back until 1997 when I was in a much better position, having written, “Greater Community Spirituality,” and being interested in the realm of theology in the Universe. I mean, that’s been a real focus of mine. So I began to receive these briefings after much resistance. I’m surprised at how much resistance I had because I always thought of myself as like, I’m open to truth from whatever source, right? Well, I really wasn’t open to truth from this source. But, I did finally acquiesce, and began to receive the first parts of the first of the four “Allies of Humanity,” briefings, but from a very distant voice, very far away. No physical presence, no physical engagement, no craft, nothing appearing in my room, nothing splendid or exotic or anything, just this communication. And so, I recorded it, as it was coming to me. It was written out and is now available in the form that I received it. What I want to say about this is that, we’re losing time to deal with this. We’re losing critical time. I mentioned four fundamental questions in my talk this morning and we’re stuck on the first question.
So, something needs to break somewhere and I don’t think it’ll be through the New York Times and I don’t expect Ralph [former investigative reporter for the New York Times], for you to be the vehicle for it or anything like that. And meanwhile, there’s so much disinformation going on about this amongst the people on the internet, it’s shocking. To me, it’s very shocking and I think much of is unbelievable and some of it is downright dangerous. So my concern is that we really don’t have any basis for evaluating foreign presence in the world today, because we have no idea what is going on in life beyond our world. Everything we ascertain is from our position on the ground, from a human perspective and as a result, I make no claim to understand ET intelligence. I don’t think I would even presume to do that. Nor do I think that they’re part of my spiritual cosmology or that I assign to them, spiritual causes or anything like that.
But the Allies of Humanity briefings, in a way, is a form of disclosure. This is what you need to know about who is in your world, why they’re there, what they’re doing and what their ultimate game plan is. And, here’s what you need to know about your local universe that gives rise to this intervention, [and what] supports it and what limits it. What dictates what it is able to do and not able to do, in the realm of greater things that we have no information about. So, if all we have to go on is physical evidence on the ground or sightings in our sky, I think we only have a very small piece…we don’t have the whole puzzle, maybe we only have 40% of the puzzle. So we can answer the first question, but beyond that? Why is it happening, what does it mean, how do we prepare? Well, who can go there? Everyone goes to the government…
Danny Sheehan: Let’s try to be clear, Marshall. Who is it, that you understand, is communicating this information to you, telepathically? Who is that group, what is that about?
Marshall Summers: They claim to be a group of seven individuals from seven worlds, who’ve been observing the alien intervention – I call it an intervention – on our world, and who can report on their activities, and where they came from and what guides them. Because this is an expeditionary force, this is not a big military force. And it appears, in 70 years of being here, that they’re laying the foundation for something else to come and they’re doing many other the things that I mentioned in my talk this morning. Now, I had to sit with this for a couple of years, really, before I even knew what to do with it. Because, I can’t prove to you my source is real or authentic, I can’t prove to you its authenticity. It’s only the quality of the message itself and its coherence with what is observable on ground. And my own sense of, I think this rings true to me but I don’t know why. I’m not in a position to say what is true about life in the universe and what is not. But this is a message that I’m tasked to take out to the world to translate into many languages, so people have an opportunity, from a citizen standpoint, this is kind of the citizens initiative, if you will, to look at this from a certain level of practicality and feasibility, based upon what we know from what we have learned here from life on Earth.
Danny Sheehan: As Lue was pointing out, legitimately and Ralph has too, and I do as an attorney, we need to know more about the source of this information in order to evaluate the credibility. Setting aside, which we’ll address with Adam, shortly, the means by which you understand you’re receiving this, sort of telepathically, we’ll address that separately. But the nature of the source of the information, you say, are seven individuals from different planets, different star systems in our galaxy? Are they from our galaxy, you think?
Marshall Summers: That’s what they say. Let me share some other information that I think bespeaks their intent as being neutral observers. One of the things they say, really, at the beginning, is no one should be visiting your world for any reason because humanity is not ready for contact, it doesn’t have human unity, species maturity or any kind of preparedness for this event to happen. So, all I can say…
Danny Sheehan: That’s telling us more about what it is they’re saying. What I’m doing is I’m trying to put myself in Lue’s shoes and Ralph’s shoes and my shoes as an attorney, and saying, “This source that you’re talking about, what have they told you about who they are and what their reason is for knowing this information?” That’s how you explore the credibility of a source, even if they’re an unnamed source or a potential source that wants to maintain anonymity, I did the case that went to the Supreme Court to protect the identity of confidential news sources (laughs), so I’m respectful of that. But I need to know who they are and what is the means by which they profess to have access to knowing this information. If you can share that with us.
Marshall Summers: Their story…they don’t tell their identity and where they’re from, because they’re acting as spies, basically. They come from planets where…they’re not even representing their planets. They’re on some kind of greater spiritual mission because their planets represent free societies in a universe of large, technological societies where freedom is either unknown or repressed.
Danny Sheehan: Are they all in our galaxy?
Marshall Summers: Yes, this is our local space, this is local space. So I’m telling you the story they tell me, okay? And that they underwent the kind of intervention in their histories that we’re undergoing now, and were able to ward off that intervention, through variously means, sometimes violently, and that is why they have been asked to come and give us their wisdom about this, because we have no idea what’s going on beyond our borders and we’re very limited in how we can fill out this picture. So, they’re giving us then, the picture and that is what they’re there to give us, they’ve never visited our world. They have no plans on establishing relationships with us because they say we’re far too immature to engage in contact successfully, and that no race who would ever be an ally of humanity would try to do what is occurring in the world today.
Danny Sheehan: Are they capable of interstellar space travel?
Marshall Summers: Well, if they come from different planets I would assume so. I mean, they actually say that space travel has been around even before human civilization, far before. So, we’re way behind that curve. And so, we should never try to ascertain the limits of human…”

Most of you are not familiar with Robert Salas. He is a man who has been striving mightily to tell his story and have it be known.
Will our visitors let us destroy our world?
The life story of Robert Salas is relatively ordinary. Robert Salas is a 1964 graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy. He served seven years on active duty. He worked as a weapons controller, flew target drones, commanded intercontinental ballistic missiles as a launch officer, and worked as an Air Force missile propulsion engineer on the Titan III program. From 1971 to 1973 he worked as a safety and reliability engineer for Martin-Marietta Aerospace and Rockwell International on Space Shuttle design proposals. From 1974 until his retirement in 1995 he worked for the Federal Aviation Administration. Since his retirement he has working to publicize and unfold a remarkable event from 1967.
The time of this remarkable event was March 1967. The place was Malmstrom Air Force Base in northern Montana in the US. The event happened twice, once on March 16 and again on March 24. Part of the event was the sighting of a UFO by multiple witnesses on the base. The witnesses reported the object displaying remarkable speed and maneuverability. Another part was a group or flight of 10 nuclear missiles, “going off alert,” becoming unlaunchable. Two different flights of missiles were disabled, one on the 16th and the other on the 24th. Salas was on duty as a deputy missile combat crew commander deep in the underground nuclear missile control room.
While Robert Salas didn’t mention this, there are reports of UFOs tampering with Russian nuclear weapons as well. Some of this became known after the end of the Soviet Union in 1991. One of those events occurred on October 4, 1982, near the Ukrainian town of Byelokoroviche. A disc-shaped UFO apparently hovered over a nuclear missile base for an extended period. At one point during the encounter, a number of nuclear missiles suddenly activated—without authorization from Moscow or any action being taken by the missile launch officers—and were preparing to launch. Fortunately, after 15 seconds, the anomalous activation ceased and the missiles returned to stand-by status.
Will our visitors let us destroy our world? What am I supposed to think about this? It is as if the development of nuclear power and nuclear weapons has attracted UFO scrutiny. Book One of The Allies of Humanity, published in the late 1990’s, mentions this.
“It is necessary for people everywhere to understand that humanity is emerging into a Greater Community of intelligent life. Your world is being “visited” by several alien races and by several different organizations of races. This has been actively going on for some time. There have been visitations throughout human history, but nothing of this magnitude. The advent of nuclear weapons [emphasis mine] and the destruction of your natural world have brought these forces to your shores.”
Nowadays people don’t think of nuclear tests, but in the 1950’s and 1960’s, a great many nuclear tests happened above ground. If you were a visitor from outer space, and you observed this taking place, what would you think?
Two recent public opinion polls showed UFOs were not considered a military threat. I wonder how many of the respondents to that poll were aware of these events. I think I had heard of them in passing, but I didn’t pay much attention to them at the time.
All I know is that day by day the evidence grows. The New Message from God teaches what is currently a minority viewpoint on the subject of extraterrestrials.
I realize some people consider this not only false, but impossible. But many things once thought to be impossible have turned out to be so. This is a passage from the revelation “The Great Challenge Awaiting Humanity.” It is one of the chapters of the recently released book “Preparing for the Greater Community.”
“Day by day the evidence grows. Day by day more people are becoming aware. But there is still tremendous ignorance and denial. There is still tremendous manipulation of the evidence. It is very hard for people to gain any reliable information now.
The governments of the world will not tell you what they know. The religious institutions of the world cannot help you. People are filled with superstition. They are filled with hope. They are filled with wild expectancy. But who can see clearly? Whose thoughts are clear and unaffected by the prevailing attitudes and beliefs of society?”
It takes a certain intellectual and emotional preparation to see clearly. I do not claim to think clearly. I claim to be working on seeing clearly. Will our visitors let us destroy our world? Maybe not. But that doesn’t imply their benevolence.

The Ipsos poll asked “Do you believe intelligent life exists somewhere else in the universe?” 65% of the respondents said “Yes.” The Pew Research Center poll asked “Just your best guess, do you think intelligent life exists on other planets?” 65% of the respondents said “Yes.” I consider this consistent with the Gallup Poll survey of June 2019 and the Marist Poll survey of February 2018.
These two surveys are the first surveys I know of where people have been asked if UFOs constitute a military threat. An Ipsos press release for the poll reports:
“Though a majority of Canadians may believe in UFOs, the prevailing attitude toward them is surprisingly laid-back. Fewer than two in ten (17%) say the Canadian government should have a dedicated task force and battle plan in place for a potential alien invasion. Half (51%) say no, and one in three (32%) are unsure. Even among UFO believers, only one in four (25%) think Canada should have a task force and battle plan in place.”
“The minute people hear about it they think, ‘These are little green space aliens.’ I don’t even start from that premise. That’s the wrong way to analyze it in my mind,” Rubio told Fox News Radio.
“The facts are that there are things flying over our military installations. They don’t belong to us. They seem to evidence some technological advancement that we don’t have and have never seen,” he continued.

It’s almost as if a pacification program is underway. The 50% of Canadians and Americans who are persuaded that UFO’s do not constitute a military threat might be evidence of this program. Do we think our visitors are a military threat? It would seem that we don’t. But it doesn’t follow that they are here for the benefit of humanity.

On June 25, the Office of the Director for National Intelligence (ODNI) released the highly anticipated report detailing the U.S. Government’s assessment of unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP).
Do we really not know?
I consider this report a step forward. So far, the public has only been made aware of three UAP incidents looked into by the Pentagon.
But the report summary mentioned that 144 incidents in the past 16 years. The report says “These reports describe incidents that occurred between 2004 and 2021, with the majority coming in the last two years as the new reporting mechanism became better known to the military aviation community.” I believe they are referring to the 2019 guidelines for reporting UAP. There were a great many more UAP incidents than publicly admitted. The incidents were not evenly distributed over the past 16 years. This is an ongoing situation.
The Unidentified Aerial Phenomena Task Force (UAPTF) categorized 143 incidents as “unexplained.” Many people found this highly unsatisfying. There was some material in the report as to why this might be the case. Sensors are designed for specific purposes, and thus are not well suited for unknown objects. However, 80 incidents involved observation with multiple sensors (radar, infrared, electro-optical, weapon seekers, and visual observation). This gave the UAPTF a certain degree of confidence that the objects detected were physical objects.
In 18 incidents, the UAP demonstrated advanced technology including standing still in the sky, demonstrating remarkable acceleration, and being detected in some ways but undetected in others. The UAP report referred to this as “signature management.” Therefore, the 2004 Tic-Tac encounter and the 2015 USS Roosevelt events were not single events. Do we really not know?

The UAP report neither confirmed nor contradicted the teachings of the New Message from God. But there are objects in our skies that we can neither identify nor intercept. There are many people who testify to being taken against their will. A gentleman on Twitter said, “They’re real. We don’t make them. Neither does Russia or China. Do the math.” Do we really not know?
The following is the 47th paragraph of this teaching. I will add my experience of each paragraph in brackets.
There are those responding at this moment, but their numbers are very small. There are those who are awakening at this time, but their numbers are very small. This is a Calling for every person who can respond. And for those who cannot respond, they will have to face the consequences of living in a new world reality.
[I concur that the numbers of people responding to this message are very small. The numbers of people awakening to the situation described here are very small. Those who cannot respond will face an increasingly difficult world.]
If humanity cannot respond sufficiently, if enough people cannot respond, then the human family will fall prey to domination by other forces, who are already planting the seeds of dissension amongst you and even within you, within certain people. This is their great opportunity to intervene while humanity is unwary, while humanity is irresponsible, while humanity is obsessed with its own conflicts and ridiculous pursuits.
[If humanity cannot respond to the consequences of its actions, it will be vulnerable to extraterrestrial manipulation. This persuasion will be cloaked in benevolence. This seduction will take advantage of human ignorance of the Greater Community and its realities.]
You do not realize how valuable this world is in a universe of barren planets. You do not realize what you are facing. So only God can reveal these things to you. If you cannot accept this, then you will be lost in this world—lost in confusion, lost in travail, lost in hostility and rebellion.
[How many trees are there in the universe? So many things have to go right for this. Our world is seen by foreign space-faring nations as a resource-rich environment. A rare gem in a universe of barren worlds.]
Already your political governments are failing, breaking apart, your nations divided between extremists who try to lead their countries, not realizing that nations will have to unite, practically and fundamentally, to be able to deal with the consequences of what We speak of here today. Instead of breaking apart, you should be uniting—not because it is a good thing to do, but because it is the only thing to do.
[I realize this is a hard thing to contemplate. People have strong attachments to their ethnicity, their nationality and their religion. But there is a truth that is stronger than these attachments. A united humanity may succeed, but a divided humanity will fail. And by “fail” I mean “either become extinct or lose its freedom.”]
Those who say, “Oh, this is too much. This is too extreme. This cannot happen. Things will not turn out like that!” These are people who are too weak to respond. They are too given to their own priorities and obsessions. They do not have the inner strength to face something like this, even though the signs of the world are being presented to them with each passing day.
This is the evolution of humanity. Evolution has painful thresholds within it. The world did not become the paradise it is today through graceful change alone, but through convulsive change—great extinctions, great alteration of the climate, convulsion, combustion. This is evolution. It is not some simple path that you follow, that delights you at every turn. You have come into the world at a time of great evolution. Fail and you will become governed and oppressed by foreign powers, beyond what you can imagine today.
[By “foreign powers,” they mean “extraterrestrial space-faring nations.” By “governed and oppressed,” they mean “enslaved and exploited.” Humanity is perceived as intelligent animals to be domesticated. Freedom is not cherished by foreign powers.]
If you rise and unite, humanity will become a strong race, an independent race, in such a way that this independence can be protected and preserved. Only the New Message describes why this is the case and what it really means.
[Rise and unite become a strong race. There are other free worlds in our region of space. Freedom is rare because it requires sustainable self-sufficiency and discretion. But it is not impossible.]
What have we seen so far? Humanity faces unprecedented change. Declining resources, disrupted climate, environmental degradation and extraterrestrial intervention. Humanity is unprepared for these changes. But there is a New Message from God in the world, to help humanity rise to the occasion.
How shall my people prepare?
The following is the sixteenth paragraph of this teaching. I will add my experience of each paragraph in brackets.
God’s New Revelation for the world is providing everything you will need to know and everything you will need to do, within yourself and in your relationships with others. For this must happen at the level of the individual. Whole nations cannot prepare yet. It begins with individuals, preparing individually and together.
[We live in a world where doom-mongering is big business. Discerning the real warning from the false warnings requires wisdom. I can imagine people in the future asking me, “Douglas, are you really serious about this?” I must have this seriousness within myself. The New Message from God can help me have the strength of character I need.]
But who would know how to do this? No one knows how to prepare for life in the universe as it really is. No one even knows what is there. Your movies and your fiction can give you no real idea of this.
[There are many people in my world who, for one reason or another, disbelieve the very existence of extraterrestrial life. Those who believe imagine that life in the universe is like this movie, or that fiction. An argument is being made for the necessity of the New Message from God as humanity’s roadmap for the future.]
Who can prepare you for a new world reality? You have a few solutions, but you will need many more. Who has the courage to build a shelter far before the storm comes? Who has the foresight to do what must be done today before the waters rise and the lands dry out? You have this power within you, but it is unknown to you yet.
[The phrase “new world reality” has been mentioned in other places in the New Message from God. The New Message Community contemplated this phrase at the 2018 Encampment. There are a number of places in the New Message from God where it is mentioned that humanity needs “a thousand solutions.” Who has the courage, who has the foresight? The man or woman of Knowledge. I sign myself a candidate for the position “man of Knowledge.” This is what they mean by the necessity of individual preparation.]
We are here to prepare you for the great change that is coming to the world, the great change that will alter human civilization, for better or worse—permanently, from this time onward, as if you have crossed an invisible line that changes everything.
You cannot prepare yourself for this. Even if people could see and feel it significantly, they would be in disagreement about what it is and what it means and how it will happen and what must be done.
[I believe people see and feel certain aspects of the situation. They are offering various solutions and arguing for their adoption. But what if they aren’t adopted? What if they are adopted, but fail?]
Regarding your entrance into a Greater Community of life in the universe, no one on Earth knows how to prepare for this. Only God can provide this. And those few races in your vicinity of space who are free have played an important role in helping you, but they will not intervene. They can only share their wisdom with you, which they have done.
[I believe they’ve said that before. I feel like some people will read the part about “those few races” and harbor a hope for rescue. But this is inconsistent with their goal of freedom for humanity. In this case, “free” means “Sustainably self-sufficient and discreet.” The New Message from God refers to certain individuals of these races as “The Allies of Humanity.” They have provided four books of briefings through Marshall Vian Summers. Here is a review of the first one.

The pilots reported this object to be perfectly motionless, unlike a GPS dropsonde used in weather research. This photo has been widely distributed among the US Intelligence Community.
I see an unidentified standing still object. The UAPTF was only first mentioned in a 2020 New York Times article. But apparently it has been operating under that name as early as 2018. I infer from the wide distribution of the photo that the Intelligence Community is taking the UAPTF report seriously. The Department of Defense took roughly three years to confirm the leaked UFO videos of 2017 as genuine and complete. Will this photo be confirmed in three years? We’ll find out soon enough.

Something happened on Monday, April 27, 2020 that received less attention than it deserved. The US Department of Defense confirmed that three videos that have been public since 2017 are both genuine and complete. Who took these videos? Pilots for the US Navy, while in flight training missions. What is in these videos? Flying objects moving at remarkable speeds and accelerations. Flying objects which could be neither identified nor intercepted. When did the pilots take these videos? In 2004 and 2015. Where did the pilots take these videos? The 2004 video is from off the coast of San Diego, California, USA. The 2015 video is from off the east coast of the United States. (I have written about this here.) Why did the pilots take these videos? The pilots took these videos because the pilots weren’t expecting to see these objects.

The Department of Defense confirmed that the flying objects in the videos remain unidentified to this day. No natural phenomenon has demonstrated this speed and acceleration. They are not known to be the military assets of any nation on Earth. They answered one question, only to leave a much larger question unanswered. Many people have contended that the videos were fake or edited. Between 2017 and the present, these videos have undergone intense scrutiny by interested parties. Many hoped to find evidence of fakery or inauthenticity. I imagine the April 27 confirmation disappointed them.
An admission against interest?
This may be all the disclosure we get. I wish to explore another aspect of this event. Can you imagine that the Department of Defense wishes to say that the flying objects in the videos remain unidentified? Would any military on Earth say “We do not know what this is” without significant motivation? I make no claim to know what this motivation might be. However, I consider the very existence of this confirmation to be evidence of its truth. This is known in legal proceedings as an “admission against interest.” The Department of Defense has a lack of incentive to make an embarrassing or damaging statement about itself. This is an indication of the statement’s reliability.
What consequences follow?

This may be all the disclosure we get. I realize some people will be greatly disappointed in this. I believe historians will note that in 2019 and 2020, unidentified flying objects (UFOs) took a great step forward in credibility. The United States government has admitted that these objects exist. They have confirmed they are something other than instrument errors or pilot hallucinations. What does this say about the 6,000 UFO reports in the United States in 2019? Are those camera errors or mass insanity? What does this say about the testimonies of people being taken against their will? Are they some kind of cultural delusion? Perhaps we need to reconsider some things we previously rejected.

I realize some people consider this not only false, but impossible. But many things once thought to be impossible have turned out to be so. Therefore a belief in the impossibility of something carries little weight with me. Could the April 27 confirmation make this a little less impossible for you?
Ralph Blumenthal was a reporter for the New York Times from 1964 to 2009, most notably for investigative crime reporting. I consider his contribution to these two articles to be a sign that the New York Times is taking this subject seriously.
On the other hand, when this article appeared in the New York Times, it appeared on Page A14, roughly halfway between the front page and the editorial page. Media commentator Glenn Reynolds wrote “What does it say about the news environment that the U.S. government admitted UFOs were real earlier this week, and it was like the fifteenth biggest story?” Which it was.
The US Navy destigmatized UFOs

On April 23, 2019, Politico magazine published an article with the headline, “U.S. Navy drafting new guidelines for reporting UFOs.” The May 26 New York Times article described UFO sightings by US Navy pilots in 2014 and 2015. I consider these sightings to have contributed to the new guidelines described in the Politico article.

How do you feel about not being alone? No one in my world disputed the testimonies of Lt. Ryan Graves and Lt. Danny Accoin. Graves and Accoin are the two Navy fighter pilots who spoke publicly and on the record to the New York Times.
A Navy veteran I spoke with mentioned that at one time, reporting a UFO was hazardous to a pilot’s military career. Furthermore, it was hazardous to a post-military career as a commercial pilot as well. Besides Graves and Accoin, there were three other pilots who only spoke to the New York Times on conditions of anonymity. It takes a great deal of time, effort and resources to take a person from a pilot trainee to a pilot. I surmise that there have been many UFO sightings by many Navy pilots. Enough to make it unprofitable to consider a UFO sighting as a sign of mental instability.
Plenty of people in my world offered opinions regarding the significance of these sightings. One person suggested that some party was developing the capability of projecting illusions to the radar of military aircraft. Another person suggested that the objects sighted by the pilots were advanced military craft. Still another person suggested that it was impossible for these objects to be of extraterrestrial origin, because of the vast distances between stars.
At this point, history helps
How do you feel about not being alone? I know someone is reading this and thinking “Well, what about you, Douglas? What do you think and how do you feel about these things?” Like everyone else in my world, I accept the testimonies of Ryan Graves and Danny Accoin. I believe they saw what they said they saw. I believe they saw objects capable of both hypersonic speed and hovering in one spot. I believe they didn’t see what they said they didn’t see. I believe Danny Accoin didn’t see the object that his radar detected.
The pilots of that squadron considered it unlikely that the US military would introduce advanced craft into a training mission. In recent history, when the US military has obtained a superior weapon, it has used it. The US used an atomic bomb in World War II. The US has used cruise missiles (developed in the 1970s) and drone warfare (developed in the 1990s) in the 21st Century. Therefore, if the US military had a craft that could both travel at hypersonic speeds and hover in one spot, I believe it would use it. The only exception I know of is the hydrogen bomb.
What if it’s…not American?
When other nations have developed superior weapons, they have used them. Germany used the V-2 missile in World War II. Therefore, if the military of another nation on Earth had a craft that do these things, I believe it would use it. If a military force had the capability of projecting illusions to military aircraft, I believe it would use it.
Humans have considered the possibility of intelligent extraterrestrial life for a very long time. It took centuries to confirm the intuition that the sun is a star. It took centuries to confirm the intuition that there were planets orbiting stars other than our sun. Therefore, the fact that human intuition about intelligent extraterrestrial life has not yet been confirmed, carries little weight with me.
