I am a small part of a great work

I do not consider myself to be very important in the greater scheme of things. And yet, something in my world that has demonstrated remarkable vitality. That is the Worldwide Community of the New Message from God.

I am a small part of a great work

In the face of a difficult year, this community has made great efforts and great accomplishments. One of the goals is publication of the entire New Message from God during the lifetime of Marshall Vian Summers. The New Message from God published three books in 2020: The Pure Religion, Preparing for the Greater Community, and The Worldwide Community of the New Message from God.

Each in his own tongue

I am a small part of a great work. At the 2020 Summit, I discovered that some French-speaking students proposed translating the New Message from God many years ago. These students were trusting their deepest inclinations. This has become a much larger enterprise since then, with translation in some stage in 34 different languages. The translator community translated roughly twice as many revelations in 2020, than in 2019.

Making noises in greater amounts

I am a small part of a great work. There are many students of the New Message from God who are tireless advocates on many different social media platforms. I believe their work has borne fruit. The Society for the New Message from God reported that 106,000 people engaged with the New Message from God on their Facebook, Twitter and YouTube pages in 2020. Furthermore, 413,000 people visited the New Message web site in 2020. I take great encouragement in these statistics. At present, I can only dream of the glorious day when the New Message has 106,000 students with the devotion our community currently demonstrates.

I am a small part of a great work. I have not spoken of the leadership efforts of Marshall Vian Summers and his associates here. But when I think of them, I recall this passage from the Tao Te Ching:

When the Master governs, the people
are hardly aware that he exists.
Next best is a leader who is loved.
Next, one who is feared.
The worst is one who is despised.

If you don’t trust the people,
you make them untrustworthy.

The Master doesn’t talk, he acts.
When his work is done,
the people say, “Amazing: we did it, all by ourselves!” (Tao Te Ching 17, Mitchell)

One day, our community will say something like that.

When Jesus ran across the fields

It is the season of celebrating the birth of Jesus. The Jesus in whom a Greater Power emerged. This Jesus, who taught and demonstrated forgiveness and compassion. Jesus who is the foundation of a new era of civilization.

When Jesus ran across the fields

The Bible teaches of times of rejection for Jesus. I am recalling Matthew 13:53-58 (New International Version)

When Jesus had finished these parables, he moved on from there. Coming to his hometown, he began teaching the people in their synagogue, and they were amazed. “Where did this man get this wisdom and these miraculous powers?” they asked. “Isn’t this the carpenter’s son? Isn’t his mother’s name Mary, and aren’t his brothers James, Joseph, Simon and Judas? Aren’t all his sisters with us? Where then did this man get all these things?” And they took offense at him.

But Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor except in his own town and in his own home.”

And he did not do many miracles there because of their lack of faith.

I can imagine the poet Rumi thinking of this Bible passage when he wrote this poem, which appears in Book 3 (of 6) of the Masnavi. I am sharing the Coleman Barks translation

What Jesus Runs From

The son of Mary, Jesus, hurries up a slope
as though a wild animal were chasing him.
Someone following him asks, ‘Where are you going?
No one is after you.’ Jesus keeps on,
saying nothing, across two more fields.
‘Are you the one who says words over a dead person,
so that he wakes up?’
‘I am.’
‘Did you not make the clay birds fly?’
‘Yes.’
‘Who then could possibly cause you to run like this?’
Jesus slows his pace.

I say the Great Name over the deaf and the blind,
they are healed.
Over a stony mountainside, and it tears its mantle
down to the navel.
Over non-existence, it comes into existence.
But when I speak lovingly for hours, for days,
with those who take human warmth and mock it,
when I say the Name to them, nothing happens.
They remain rock, or turn to sand,
where no plants can grow.
Other diseases are ways for mercy to enter,
but this non-responding breeds violence
and coldness toward God.
I am fleeing from that.

As little by little air steals water, so praise
Is dried up and evaporates with foolish people
who refuse to change.
Like cold stone you sit on, a cynic steals body heat.
He doesn’t feel the sun.
Jesus wasn’t running from actual people.
He was teaching in a new way.

This poem is my Christmas gift to the lovers and followers of Jesus. When Jesus ran across the fields, I believe he hoped we would run from cold-hearted cynicism.

I see an unidentified standing still object

There has been a good deal of news recently regarding UFOs. This photo is one of the news items. It is said to have been “leaked” or unofficially released. The website The Debrief has done a good deal of work in investigating the context of this photo. They have spoken to members of the US Department of Defense, and members of the US Intelligence Community.

Anonymous sources tell us that someone took this photograph in 2018. The backseat weapons systems operator of an F/A-18 fighter jet took this picture with a cell phone camera. The fighter jet was somewhere off the east coast of the United States. This photo was part of a 2018 report from the Unidentified Aerial Phenomena Task Force (UAPTF). The pilots reported this object to be perfectly motionless, unlike a GPS dropsonde used in weather research. This photo has been widely distributed among the US Intelligence Community.

I see an unidentified standing still object. The UAPTF was only first mentioned in a 2020 New York Times article. But apparently it has been operating under that name as early as 2018. I infer from the wide distribution of the photo that the Intelligence Community is taking the UAPTF report seriously. The Department of Defense took roughly three years to confirm the leaked UFO videos of 2017 as genuine and complete. Will this photo be confirmed in three years? We’ll find out soon enough.

I see an unidentified standing still object. The New Message from God teaches what is currently a minority viewpoint on the subject of extraterrestrials.

1) Intelligent extraterrestrial life exists
2) Extraterrestrials are intervening in human affairs today
3) This extraterrestrial intervention is a threat to human freedom

It takes a certain mental and emotional preparation to think about these things without preference or fear.
