Snap Out Of Your Haphazard Meaningless Life

Snap out of your haphazard meaningless life

This is the seventh post in a series of posts on the revelation “The Great Turning Point for Humanity.” This revelation is a small part of the New Message from God. The first post is here. The previous post is here.

UPDATE 07/07/2021: The next post in the series is here.

What have we seen so far? Humanity faces great ongoing disruptions. Declining resources, a less hospitable climate, environmental degradation, and extraterrestrial intervention. There is a New Message from God that will help humanity to prepare. But to prepare requires a certain ennobling and strengthening inside.

Snap out of your haphazard meaningless life

The following is the 41th paragraph of this teaching. I will add my experience of each paragraph in brackets.

God is sounding the alarm. It is not just for one group. It is not just for one nation. It is for the whole world.

[The alarm is not just for one ethnicity. The great calling out of self-obsession is not just for one nation. The calling out of attempts at fulfillment is not just for one religion. It is for the whole world.]

There is nowhere to hide. There is nowhere to escape to. There is nowhere that will not be overtaken by the Great Waves of change or feel the danger of the Intervention that is occurring in the world today by forces from beyond.

[This was mentioned in an earlier paragraph. There is nowhere where resources will be plentiful. There is nowhere where the climate will be unaffected. There is nowhere where the environment will not be deteriorated.]

You must snap out of your dreams. You must snap out of your weakness and your pathetic attitudes and hostility towards others.

[I must snap out of my dreams, and so forth. We must snap out of our weakness, and so forth. I think of these words of American clergyman Edward Everett Hale (1822-1909):
“I am only one, but still I am one. I cannot do everything, but still I can do something; And because I cannot do everything, I will not refuse to do the something that I can do.]

No one great leader is going to come and save humanity and lead you out of this great crisis. It will be the efforts of many people working in concert together.

[ Snap out of your meaningless haphazard life. Many people going to have to respond. Furthermore, many people must work with people they hadn’t planned on working with. If humanity survives and secures its freedom, no one will praise the great leader.]

God has given you the Revelation to show you what is coming and what must be done to prepare, within yourself in life and in your relationship with others. But beyond this, there must be great human invention. There must be great human effort. There must be great human expense. This will take all the wealth in the world to prepare for.

[The wealthy of our world do not envision this future. If they did, they would act differently. But you and I must think more creatively, to prepare for the rising seas and the drying lands.]

It is perfect for you, who otherwise would lead a haphazard, meaningless life, filled with disappointments, misunderstanding, without real direction, without real meaning. You would wander from thing to thing, from person to person, seeking whatever you are seeking, but still really disengaged, mostly, from what is important around you.

[ Snap out of your haphazard meaningless life. What do they mean by this? Most people do not think of themselves as having a mission or a greater purpose. If you were to examine it in detail, you would discover that survival and gratification motivated a lot of people. But you have a greater mission, one that involves the survival and freedom of the human family. Rise to the occasion!]

We Have A Lot To Overcome Inside

We have a lot to overcome inside

This is the sixth post in a series of posts on the revelation “The Great Turning Point for Humanity.” This revelation is a small part of the New Message from God. The first post is here. The previous post is here.

UPDATE 06/09/2021: The next post in the series is here.

What have we seen so far? Earlier posts in this series mentioned great changes in climate. The previous post gave further detail of this. The seas will rise and the lands will dry. Not in some distant future, but in this century. The world will become drier, hotter, more difficult to navigate. There will be a large number of climate refugees, leaving areas no longer inhabitable.

We have a lot to overcome inside

The following is the 34th paragraph of this teaching. I will add my experience of each paragraph in brackets.

You do not prepare for this when it is about to occur, for that is too late. You do not respond when you are about to be overtaken, for that is too late. You do not build your house in the sand, on the side of a volcano, or next to a river, for then it is too late.

[They haven’t said exactly how to prepare for this yet. It takes a certain amount of preparation just to contemplate this possibility. Part of this is receiving the preparation that the New Message from God is providing.]

The signs of the world are coming to you every day if you will pay attention. You must not give up or give in to fear or denial or weakness. This is what will make you strong.

[The above image provides some of the signs, most notably temperature change. This is from the paper “World Scientists’ Warning to Humanity – A Second Notice.” When I first contemplated these things, all I wanted to do was lie down and curl up into a fetal position. If you are reading these words and experiencing stress, I feel for you. But it is important to eliminate phrases like “We are so screwed” or “We’re doomed” from your conversation. What should you say instead? Perhaps “I will prepare for the difficulties ahead.”]

This is what will unite humanity—the thing that nobody expects, the thing that nobody wants, the thing that nobody believes is possible, the thing that seems inexplicable and new, unlike anything most people have ever experienced—a planetary emergency that does not stop.

[People of every ethnicity, every nationality and every religion will experience these difficulties. It will seem cruel to take any joy in the struggles of any group in one day. It could be your group the next day. There is another New Message teaching called The Global Emergency that elaborates on this.]

You may complain. You may be angry with God. You may blame some other nation, or your government, or your parents. But you were sent into the world to be here at this time. It has your name on it. It is what you are really here to do and to respond to.

[I have complained. I could be angry with God, but God is doing something, sending the New Message. I have blamed. I am working on educating myself regarding climate and resources. I am thinking of myself as a citizen of planet Earth. I am writing these blog posts.]

Though your role may be very specific, though your engagement may be very limited, it must be within this greater reality that We speak of here today.

[Some people are reading these words and thinking that some hero will emerge. But there are going to be a lot of relatively mundane things that will have to be done. And someone who can do those things cheerfully and effectively will be a big help.]

You have to think ahead. You have to overcome your fear and preference and ambivalence and your jaded views and your condemnation of others and your skepticism and your ridiculous ideas about life and yourself.

[ We have to become more noble. We have to stretch ourselves in space and time. Can we think seven generations ahead like the Iriquois tried to do? Overcoming fear, preference, etc is what I was thinking when I wrote, “We have a lot to overcome inside.”]

You have to serve people. You have to accept yourself. All the things that really matter you will have to do, not because it is the easy thing to do or the thing that makes you happy, but because it is the thing that is required.

[ We have a lot to overcome inside. You might have a fleeting happiness if your preferences are indulged. But if you did your small, but necessary part to help humanity rise to the challenge, you would have a deeper, more abiding happiness.]

Brace Yourself Against Me I Will Gladly Learn

Brace yourself against me I will gladly learn
Walt Whitman (1819-1892), 1854

American poet Walt Whitman (1819-1892) wrote a brief poem called “Stronger Lessons.” It first appeared in the 1867 edition of Leaves of Grass.

STRONGER LESSONS.

HAVE you learned lessons only of those who admired
you, and were tender with you, and stood aside
for you?
Have you not learned the great lessons of those who
rejected you, and braced themselves against
you? or who treated you with contempt, or
disputed the passage with you?

Brace yourself against me, I will gladly learn

I share this poem because a thread in Steps to Knowledge resonates with this poem. Steps to Knowledge is the book of spiritual practice of the New Message from God. There are 365 steps in Steps to Knowledge. I use the word “thread” because there are multiple steps that vibrate sympathetically with this poem.

Step 86 (of 365) of Steps to Knowledge, the Book of Inner Knowing

In Step 86, “I honor those who have given to me,” I am encouraged to make a larger frame of what contribution is.

“With those with whom you are angry and upset, try to see how they, too, have given service to you in the reclamation of Knowledge. Do not bear false witness against your feelings, but in spite of your feelings towards them, if there are ill feelings, attempt also to recognize their service to you.”

I shared my experience of Step 86 here. I read the poem “Stronger Lessons” sometime after I had practiced Steps to Knowledge. But something recently reminded me of these steps, which in turn reminded me of the poem.

Step 178 (of 365) of Steps to Knowledge, the Book of Inner Knowing

In Step 178, “I will remember those who have given to me today,” I am encouraged to broaden my perspective to include demonstrations of wisdom and folly.

“Upon the hour, then, repeat this statement and take a moment to recall those who have given to you. Try to think very carefully of the individuals who have given benefit to you, both by demonstrating their Wisdom and their error. Think of those who have illustrated the way to go and the way not to go. As you inquire further into this in your two longer practice periods today, try to think more carefully and allow any individual who comes to mind to be the subject of your investigation. This is an active practice time in your meditation periods.”

Step 328 (of 365) of Steps to Knowledge, the Book of Inner Knowing

Brace yourself against me, I will gladly learn. And on it goes. Don’t get me wrong. It’s not like I’m looking for trouble. But it seems that I must learn the stronger lessons. There are days when I cry out to learn the stronger lessons. I wish to be of greater service.
