I offer congratulations to Malala Yousafzai, recipient (with Kailash Satyarti) of the 2014 Nobel Peace Prize.
Let this be the last time
The Nobel Prize Committee writes: “Despite her youth [she is 17], Malala Yousafzai has already fought for several years for the right of girls to education, and has shown by example that children and young people, too, can contribute to improving their own situations. This she has done under the most dangerous circumstances. Through her heroic struggle she has become a leading spokesperson for girls’ rights to education.”
The New Message from God teaches: “There must be many strong contributors in the world now, or humanity faces a great and precipitous decline.” Spaceship Earth needs “all hands on deck,” as it were, both male and female. I consider Malala to be a strong contributor. I consider Malala to be an advocate for many others to be strong contributors in the future.
Malala gave a call to action in her Nobel lecture:
Let this be the last time that a boy or a girl spends their childhood in a factory.
Let this be the last time that a girl gets forced into early child marriage.
Let this be the last time that an innocent child loses their life in war.
Let this be the last time that a classroom remains empty.
Let this be the last time that a girl is told education is a crime and not a right.
Let this be the last time that a child remains out of school.
Let us begin this ending.
Let this end with us.
And let us build a better future right here, right now.
It is my hope that we will add our agreement and our action to these intentions. Let this be the last time.
